TRAIL: South Fork Camground to Devil’s Punchbowl
LENGTH: 7 miles 1 direction, 14 miles RT
GAIN: 1,000 feet
DIFFICULTY: Difficult
Southfork
DESCRIPTION:  This hike is great because it takes you around the most interesting of all things - the massive white rock, sheer rock that jutts out into the punchbowl called the Devils Chair, and then down into lush canyons and streams as you approach the Valyermo side of the trek. Plan to park a car at both ends, or be prepared to hike 7 miles back for a 14 mile round trip.

HOW TO GET TO THE TRAILHEAD: From State Highway 138, turn south at Pearblossom onto Longview Road, then left (southeast) on Valyermo Road past Valyermo, and right (south) on Big Rock Creek Road. A little over 2.5 miles from this junction, turn south on a dirt road to South Fork Campground - 1 mile. After dropping your car at the parking area, the trailhead is off to your left. (This trail can also be reversed, starting at Devil’s Punchbowl). Be aware of loose rocks and landslides along this trail. Call Devil’s Punchbowl or the Forest Service for Trail conditions before you do this trail as landslides could block the trail, or if the trail slides, you may have to backtrack. As always, be prepared for a long hike with all the hike essentials and enough time to backtrack, if necessary.
